On Monday 22nd November Stephanie the Nursery Manager at Stafford and Alison the Director of Care for the Honeybuns Group, met the Mayor of Stafford Borough, Councillor Stan Highfield, who presented them with the prestigious Gold Nurturing Health award.
This has been awarded to the nursery for achieving a high standard of healthy eating, physical activities and encouraging children to understand about the foods they eat. Stafford Nursery has so far achieved Bronze, Silver and Gold awards from Live Well, Be Well in Staffordshire, however this is an excellent achievement for Steph and all of her Staff as we are only 1 of 4 nurseries in Stafford to have been awarded Gold status. In 2012 Steph and her team will start working towards the platinum award.
23rd November – BBC Children in Need

A big thank you to everyone who took part in our Children in Need fundraising activities. We wanted this year to be our best ever. We held a charity carwash at each of our nurseries, nursery managers had cream pies and wet sponges thrown at them and the children joined in with dressing up as rockstars and making cakes to sell back to their families. A lot of fun was had by the staff and the children at each of the Honeybuns Nurseries, and i am happy to announce that we raised a total of £633.61!
13rd October – Honeybuns Charity Donation
Honeybuns Nursery Group has this month donated £1100 to Save the Children charity foundation. The money has been raised over the past 12 months through Christmas Fairs, Summer Fetes, and other fundraising activities and we would like to thank all of the Families, Staff, and local businesses that got involved.
£600 of the money has been donated to the East Africa Emergency Appeal. The appeal was set up by Save the Children to help families survive in poverty stricken Somalia. The money will also help the charity look after the growing number of infants that have been abandoned by parents who feel they can no longer look after them properly.
The remaining £500 has been used to buy gifts from the Save the Children Virtual Wish List. Honeybuns has brought eight emergency food baskets, seven sets of mosquito nets, four bicycles and a pair of goats.
The gifts will be sent to families across the world and will help them not only survive the immediate threat of poverty that they face, but also help them create a future for themselves.

After School Club at The Den
The first Summer Holiday club at The Den was a great success, the children enjoyed taking part in the new activities and workshops and loved ‘chill out time’ in the beanbag area, playing with their friends and having competitions on the Wii and the Playstation. The Holiday Club at The Den will reopen it’s doors in October so look out for our new activities timetable.
Afterschool club at The Den is now up and running, we have a specially designed Homework area where children can get help, we have a reading area and a chill out area were they can chat to their friends after a long day at school and we also have the Wii, Playstation and games freely available for the children to use.
If you would like further information on the schools that we currently collect from and the facilities that The Den has to offer, please click here.

Our New Sensory Rooms
We now have brand new sensory rooms at both our Norton Canes and Stafford nurseries. The brand new rooms are fully equipped with fairy lights, tactile materials and toys and soothing music. All of our children at the nurseries will be spending some time in the sensory rooms, which have been specifically designed to cater for children of all ages and abilities.
If you would like to have a look at the new room please talk to Nina at Norton and Steph at Stafford and they will be happy to show you around.
